Objective Area Solutions is thrilled to have Tom Draffen join as a senior member of our team. His technical experience paired with his focus
on leadership and organizational performance provides a rare combination which
will deliver great value to our clients.
Tom will be a leader in the company’s growing aviation and defense
sectors. He comes with over 23 years of extensive air
traffic management, aviation policy, defense, and leadership experience.
In his previous position, Tom
served at the Pentagon as the Senior Air Traffic Controller for the Deputy
Commandant for Aviation for Headquarters Marine Corps. In this role, Tom established and executed
organizational policy, training, resourcing, and operational plans for all
Marine Corps air traffic control personnel.
He has served as a senior planner, aviation operations subject matter
expert, and advisor for the Marine Corps and joint operations in subject areas
including air defense, air traffic management, meteorology, and oceanography. Tom has managed certifications for
the air traffic control curriculum and advised senior leadership on global workforce
planning and operations involving air traffic control mobile, tower, and
radar personnel. He is a fully
qualified air traffic controller with multiple control tower operator
certificates, TRACON ratings, and extensive terminal instrument procedure
development experience.
Tom has an undergraduate degree in IT Management,
has completed the accredited coach training program at George Mason University
and is completing a graduate degree in Organization Leadership. He is the Founding Director of the Kings Connection
non-profit serving parent, teacher, and staff engagement at Kofa High School in
Yuma, Arizona. Tom lives in Northern
Virginia with his wife.
